Another member gone

Filed under: News — Administrator @ 8:26 pm

We are sad to say another member of Dorian Mirth has left our ranks. Janette has opted to take an incredible opportunity and move across the country to make her way in New York. We’re jealous she’s so much closer to Rachel than we are, but we will miss her terribly. Good luck, Janette!

Scottish Festival in the newspaper

Filed under: Music, News — Gina @ 10:21 pm

Discovered today that Salt Lake’s Deseret News had a large full-color article on the upcoming Scottish Festival and Highland Games. Most of the article was about the amazing physical strength contests (quite impressive upon a first viewing last year), however there was a nice little sidebard entitled “FESTIVAL INCLUDES MUSICIANS, DANCERS” Dorian Mirth is mentioned along with all the other performing acts. Cool! Here is a link and their introductory blurb:

The Utah Scottish Association is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Scottish Festival and Highland Games. In addition to the athletic competitions, the festival will offer food, entertainment, 40 clan booths and history information, a display of British cars, historic displays and demonstrations, a shortbread contest, vendors and more.

New Blog

Filed under: News — Administrator @ 2:24 pm

Well, the move to a new server has gone well enough. Now we are introducing a new way to deliever news of the group – a WordPress blog. It was easy to install and imported all our old entries very well. There still need to be tweaks for the look of the news page, plus of course the output of the latest headlines to the home page, and they will come in time.

New Album Recording

Filed under: Music — Gina @ 6:49 pm

With spring break and availability of recording space, members of Dorian Mirth have spent time this past week in several sessions recording material for our upcoming (as yet untitled) CD. Thankfully once again we have our wonderful engineer and all-around technician Steve who also helped us on the first CD. We anticipate the completion of the album in a few months, including time to finish recording and put everything together.

New from Dorian Mirth! Download now a clip from the just recorded piece ‘Noel Nouvelet’, a lively version of the traditional French carol. Instruments include the Chalumeau, Soprano Recorders, Krumhorn, Chimes, Tambourine and Tupan Drum. This is the first recording our planned next CD, to be finished in the next few months or so.
