This past weekend we had our first practice and recording session with Frank, a friend and colleague of mine from Utah State University. He has joined the group as an Artist in Residence to help arrange, compose, and conduct. He’s a great musician and composer and we’re very excited to have him on board! We’ll be adding more information about him in the “Musicians” page of the site.

The One Cake
As posted on TheOneRing.net:
Lady Luke Skywalker from Dorian Mirth (formerly known as Vis Sit Tecum) writes: Yesterday was one of our group members birthday so to celebrate, I made her a special cake — The One Ring! I’ve included pictures because it was rather amusing. I did the lettering free-hand and having no prior experience with One Ring writing, I think it turned out pretty well.

Member Gone. . .
With the summer came some massive changes around here. We changed our name, we’ve added new and exciting things to our website and repetoire, and sadly, one of our members, Jeffrey, has left Dorian Mirth. Due to commitments which were very time consuming, he decided it would be best if he didn’t continue with the group.
We will miss him!

Recording Session
Taking advantage of the Labor Day holiday, today we had the opportunity to do some serious recording at a local college. This is the first time have able to record under better conditions than a tape recorder, so very exciting! Despite the presence of a/c noise and a learning curve for all, the sound quality is quite beautiful on the three pieces we successfully recorded: Fanfare, Bouffons, and Sumer Is Icumen In.
